Heirloom Cacao Preservation farm #6

An heirloom farm, designated #6

Heirloom Cacao Preservation recognises cacao of exceptional flavour and genetic value. Quantum Cacao carries designation #6 — a distinction shared by a handful of farms worldwide.

The trees grow under rainforest shade rather than in cleared rows, and the farm runs on solar power far from the grid.

The day, from pod to cup

A visit runs roughly 10:00 to 16:00. You walk the groves, open pods, taste the fresh pulp, follow the fermentation boxes and drying beds, and finish with a ceremonial cup prepared from that same harvest.

Lunch is cooked on the farm from what the land provides, and the day closes with time to sit in the quiet before the drive back.

Why it belongs in a Costa Rica journey

Coto Brus is the southern, less-travelled Costa Rica: cooler hills, dense forest and small producers. Reaching it takes intent, which is exactly why it stays as it is.

For guests who want one deep, unhurried day rather than another checklist stop, this is the one we recommend most often.

How CR Experience arranges it

We book the date directly with the farm, arrange the 4x4 transfer and the guide, and place the day inside a wider route — often combined with the Pacific coast or the highlands.
